Cypress Treehouse Austin, Texas
Conceived as an elevated retreat tucked within the canopy, this refined treehouse transforms a childhood sketch into a fully realized guesthouse that hovers lightly above the landscape. Raised on slender steel supports that echo the form of tree trunks and branches, the structure appears to float among the cypress limbs while touching the ground with minimal impact. Clad in warm wood and reflective surfaces, the exterior dissolves into its surroundings, mirroring leaves, sky, and shifting light. Inside, floor-to-ceiling glass volumes extend living spaces into the trees, balancing openness with carefully calibrated privacy. Efficiently assembled and precisely detailed, the house offers layered spaces for play, rest, and hosting, all while preserving the native site below. Both imaginative and exacting, the result is a quiet architectural escape that captures the wonder of a treehouse with the comfort and elegance of a permanent home.
