Ryan Street Architects is an Austin-based architecture and interiors firm designing residential and commercial environments shaped by their surroundings and the people who inhabit them. Since 2001, we have approached every project as a portrait of the client, balancing refinement with livability to craft spaces that are intuitive, enduring, and distinctly personal.
Working across Texas and an expanding national portfolio that includes California, North Carolina, Montana, and beyond, our practice spans custom residences and large-scale developments. Guided by a collaborative process rooted in discovery and dialogue, our work is uniquely informed by its setting, purpose, and the way people live—drawing on classical principles, the natural world, and contemporary influences to create environments that feel authentic, thoughtful, and deeply connected to place.

I love spending time with my family and traveling to places that inspire me.
I often say that architecture chose me. Looking back, the signs were there from an early age. I was fortunate to grow up in a creative home where making things by hand was encouraged, and I was always building—whether forts, treehouses, sculptures, or painting alongside my mother, who is an artist. At the time, I didn’t recognize those moments as the start of a career, but they instilled a lasting curiosity about how things are made and how the built environment shapes our everyday lives.
That curiosity became a clear calling after a formative trip to Europe. Experiencing the centuries-old architecture of Germany, Spain, France, and Italy, I was struck by the way history, craftsmanship, and culture were embedded in every place. Those experiences left a lasting impression and continue to shape the way I think about architecture today.

My appreciation for architecture started early, although I did not recognize the significance at the time. Growing up in a historic neighborhood in Elgin, IL I was surrounded by a mix of historic architectural styles and wide tree-lined streets. I was drawing constantly as a child and remember making scaled plans of my bedroom furniture layout. I identified architecture as my career focus only when I applied to college and had to choose a major. I was immediately captivated by the mix of art and technique, cultural influences, and the concept that places can shape our lives.
